Never forget the cross

John 19:19    KJV

19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was Jesus Of Nazareth The King Of The Jews.

1 Corinthians 1:18     KJV

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Let us think and meditate on the cross of Calvary and thank God for His mercy and grace

  •  The cross upon which Jesus died, is the beginning and the foundation of God’s new covenant with humankind.

  • We know what happened on the cross of Calvary.

  •  We know the importance of the cross of Calvary.

  • We know the sacrificial atonement that came from the blood of Christ, on the cross of Calvary.

  • We know the suffering that our Lord endured, in giving His life for the sins of humankind, knowing that not all would avail themselves of His gift of mercy and grace.

  • We know that he even with the pain and suffering, Jesus asked God to forgive those who crucified Him, saying “they know not what they do.”

  • We know the humiliation that Jesus suffered on the cross.

  • We know that the rulers sneered at Jesus as He was hanging on the cross, saying “He saved others, let Him save Himself if He is Christ, the chosen of God.”

Ira Stanphill wrote a beautiful song “Room At The Cross” that gives the message of the cross so beautifully.  Verse one and the chorus are as follows;

The Cross upon which Jesus died
Is a shelter in which we can hide
And its grace so free, is sufficient for me
And deep is its fountain as wide as the sea

There's room at the Cross for you
There's room at the Cross for you
Though millions have come
There's still room for one
There's room at the Cross for you

THE CROSS SPEAKS VOLUMES

Briefly, besides salvation through the blood of Jesus, what does the cross of Calvary symbolize or say to us?

  • It demonstrates the love of God for humankind

  • It shows God’s hatred of sin

  •  It initiates the New Covenant, which is the final Covenant with humankind.

  • It vividly illustrates the humanity of Christ Jesus

  • It powerfully shows the Deity of Christ Jesus

  •  It seals the eternal defeat of Satan

  •  It completes the obedience of Christ

  •  It exemplifies the eternal power of Christ

Philippians 2:8    KJV

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

When we pray and offer our praise and thanksgiving to God, let us never forget to remember the cross and all that it means and symbolizes to us.

Let us never forget the cross.

Think and meditate upon it often.
