More Than Conquerors

We are more than conquerors

Romans 8:35-39    KJV

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In this lesson, we are focusing on verse 37, which is one of God’s wonderful promises to us. It is certainly an encouraging and uplifting verse of scripture.

In this verse, Paul tells us that through Jesus Christ we are MORE than conquerors.

Not just conquerors, but MORE than conquerors. We are going to enjoy an overwhelming victory over Satan and all that he throws at us.

There is no doubt that at times in all of our lives, we feel like we are conquered or defeated. It happens to everyone. Things don’t always go right or the way we want it to.

There will always be trials and tribulations. Bumps in the road or even chasms.

Contrary to what some people may teach, God didn’t promise us a life without problems. In fact, God has a purpose behind every trial he allows us to go through. He has a lesson to teach us through the storms of life. He wants to draw us closer to him, helping us to realize that He is our refuge and strength.

Think about the Apostle Paul and all that he had to endure. He was beaten, stoned, shipwrecked three times, often cold, hungry or thirsty and finally imprisoned.  Read 2nd Corinthians 11:23-28.

Yet, Paul tells us that through all of his trials he is persuaded, or knows without doubt, that nothing will ever separate him from the love of God.

Like Paul, we will certainly have problems. We will certainly have trials. We will certainly die physically.

Paul knew very well all of these facts.

Yet, he could proclaim that through Jesus Christ, we are MORE than conquerors and that nothing will separate us from the love of Christ!

Nothing shall separate us from the love of God

Not trials or tribulations. Not distress. Not persecution. Not famine. Not nakedness. Not peril. Not sword. Not death. Not life. Not angels. Not principalities. Not powers. Not things present. Not things to come. Not height. Not depth. Not any other creature.

NONE of these things shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We are not more than conquerors on our own accord. It isn’t our physical strength. It isn’t weaponry of any sort. It isn’t a fighting spirit. In fact, we don’t have to do a thing to ensure our victory because victory will be ours through surrendering to Jesus Christ and the promise of God.

When the storms of life come, we must take God at His word, trusting Him by faith and leaving all things up to Him.

He is in control and through Him we will be more than conquerors, whatever comes our way.

More than conquerors
