God and Science

Psalm 19:1    New International Version

The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Psalm 33:6-9   New International Version

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
    their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars[
a];
    he puts the deep into storehouses.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord;
    let all the people of the world revere him.
9 For he spoke, and it came to be;
    he commanded, and it stood firm.

Psalm 65:8    New International Version

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
    where morning dawns, where evening fades,
    you call forth songs of joy.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, I have heard many comments from Christians, saying that they don’t believe in science, but rather in God.

God and science are not at odds and it is hard for me to understand why even some Christians believe otherwise. In essence, they believe that their faith should be in God alone and that trusting in science is denying God in some way. In my view, they could not be more wrong.

God and science are like “the hand and the glove” analogy. In fact, speaking in “human terms” as an example, God would be the greatest physicist and scientist the world will ever know.

God created science

In the beginning, God knew all about gravity, temperature, the speed of light, E=MC squared and all the rest.

He knew all about medicine and what the human body needs. He created our miraculous bodies fully knowing and understanding every detail and how they work.

When he placed the sun, moon, planets and stars He knew how to keep them in place to avoid running into each other.

We could go on, but I don’t think it is necessary. God created ALL things.

Let's look to see what Albert Einstein, one of the world's greatest scientists had to say about God and science;

For the life of me, I cannot understand why so many people including Christians believe that science is at odds with God.  It is simply not true.

God knows everything about biology, chemistry, physics, quantum-physics, medicine and everything else. God uses medical doctors to heal. God uses medicines to help us. God uses vaccines to protect us.

In fact, God knew when he created this universe that we humans would get smarter over time and learn more about science, medicine and physics. When God created mankind, He knew the collective “we” would someday travel to the Moon and Mars. He knew “we” would develop medicines and cures for diseases. He knew in time that “we” would explore the universe with scientific accuracy.

As we learn more about these areas of science, we in turn learn more about our God.

God and Science

In the beginning, as the creator of all things, God originated science. He uses science along with the intelligence and advancement of mankind to further His purposes.

We can trust science and from science we learn more about God.
