According to the Pew Research Center’s 2012 global study of 230 countries and territories, 16% of the world’s population is not affiliated with a religion. This includes atheists, agnostics and otherwise non-believers totaling approximately 1,360,000,000 people based on today’s world population.
This number is compared to approximately 2,200,000,000 people who self-identify as Christians.
Why do so many people who are alive today, not believe in God?
We are going to see where Paul says in the book of Romans that regardless of their reasoning, those that disbelieve are without excuse.
Romans 1:18-20 English Standard Version
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[a] in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
Paul tells us that what we need to know about God is plain to all, in the things around us.
Think for a moment about this question; when you look around you, where do you see the majesty of God?
For some it is the mountains;
For some it is the desert;
For some it is the night sky;
For some it is the miracle of life and a newborn baby;
Paul tells us what we already know. The invisible attributes, namely His eternal power and divine nature are clearly seen since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. It is all right before our eyes. He is right before our eyes.
We can see God in everything around us, IF we are looking for Him.
We don’t worship nature, but we see God in nature. We see God in the night sky. When we think about the universe that has no end, we think about and see God. When we see the miracle of birth, we see the handiwork of God.
If we do not, the warning is clear. We have no excuse.
