Soar Like the Eagle

With renewed strength we can soar like the eagle

Isaiah 40:28-31   KJV

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:28-31   Amplified Bible

28
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth
Does not become tired or grow weary;
There is no searching of His understanding.
29
He gives strength to the weary,
And to him who has no might He increases power.
30
Even youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
31
But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him]
Will gain new strength and renew their power;
They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];
They will run and not become weary,
They will walk and not grow tired
.

God Never Grows Weary

God does not grow weary

These verses in Isaiah are some of the most beautiful and soul penetrating verses in God’s word.

These scriptures begin with a simple truth that all believers know and that is the fact that our Father in Heaven, the creator of all things, never tires or grows weary.

It sounds a bit unnecessary in some way for the prophet to say that God never tires or grows weary, because He who created all things is beyond human frailties and is always looking after His children.

We do know that as human parents we get tired and weary, but we still do what is needed to care for our children. How much more then, does our Heavenly Father care for us, who is beyond our mortal strengths and attributes.

As the spiritual being that He is, He is outside or beyond the strains of mortal life.

God's Wisdom Is Infinite

Gods wisdom is infinite

Next, the prophet tells us that “there is no searching of His understanding.”

We cannot grasp the power and majesty of the One that created life, the universe and all that is beyond.

Our God, who created all things is infinitely wise and it is impossible for our finite minds to fully grasp His wisdom and power which reaches to all persons and things.

As children of God we know that there are things we cannot know in this life. We are told that in this life, “eye has not seen nor ear heard the things that God has in store for His children.”

However, in the life to come, according to His promise, we will no longer be looking through the glass darkly, and we will understand the things we do not understand now.

God's wisdom is infinite

With Renewed Strength, We Can Spiritually Soar Like the Eagle

Finally, according to Isaiah, when we grow weary spiritually, we can obtain strength from our Heavenly Father.

When we feel ineffective or weak spiritually, He will give us power. All we have to do is commune with Him in prayer, supplication and obedience.

These metaphorical words from the prophet Isaiah are beautiful and soul inspiring.

The eagle soars above us and it takes advantage of the updrafts of wind to soar even higher in the sky.

The message to us is that through obedience, patience and communion with God, He gives us power through the Holy Spirt to soar or rise above all of our troubles and trials, drawing even closer to Him. He will renew our spiritual strength.

We may grow tired or weary physically at any age. We may grow old and weary. But we will never grow tired or weary spiritually as long as we soar like the eagle, drawing closer to Him.
