Eye Hath Not Seen

Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard

1 Corinthians 2:9    KJV

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

1 Corinthians 13:12    KJV

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

1 Corinthians 13:12    Amplified Bible

12 For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God].

Heaven will be indescribable

These are two of my favorite verses in the Bible and I realize that I am taking them separately and apart from the verses around them.

However, I believe that “standing on their own” they tell us something profound, beautiful and wonderful at the same time.

WHY AM I HERE?

WHERE AM I GOING?

Let us take a moment and think about a couple of questions that we sometimes ask ourselves as children.

What is this life all about?   Why am I here?

In thinking about the questions, let us ask another question.

Why would God create humankind in His image, just to live a short life, with death being the end of it?

Without a doubt, God's love for His creation answers the question. He wouldn't.

The answer is that this life is simply preparatory for what He has in store for us beyond our earthly home.

Preparatory for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and are cleansed of all unrighteousness through His blood.

If we are willing to look for God in this life, we shall find Him everywhere. We will see Him in all things. We will feel Him in all things. We will know He is in all things. For He created ALL things.

We see His majesty and power all around us. We see the beauty and wonders in nature and the universe.

We see Him.

In this earthly life, we find God’s beauty and wonders everywhere. What we can see on earth and out in the universe can be indescribable.

Indescribable

However, it is nothing compared to what God has prepared for His children.

As the old saying goes, “we ain’t seen nothing yet.”

According to God’s word, our eyes haven’t seen, our ears haven’t heard and our mind cannot fully conceive what God has prepared for us in Heaven. We cannot accurately imagine what lies ahead, which is the way God planned and executed His master plan.

Sure, we have symbols of the “new heaven”, which John gave us in the book of Revelation, but we don’t yet know and cannot imagine the glory that awaits us.

WE LOOK THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY

We look through a glass darkly

It really is like looking through a glass darkly, or looking through a dirty window, or into a dim mirror.

We know from God’s word what He has promised in the abstract (eternal life and a home in heaven), but we cannot fully comprehend the wonders that He has in store for us.

We have the promises of God of a home in heaven, if we are reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ. However, we only have “glimpses” into His promise of heaven. We can see “images” and “shadows” but again, “we ain’t seen nothing yet.”

In other words, “get ready for the finale.”

In fact, we know all that we need to know in this life, knowing that what we truly cannot fully imagine or understand now, will become “concrete reality” when we stand before Him.
