Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet

Isaiah 40:8    KJV

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Isaiah 66:2    KJV

For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

God's Word

We have talked many times about the importance of lifting God in praise, glory and honor as we worship him. Not once a week, or twice. But the importance of worshipping God each and every day and developing a worshipful attitude where we lift him up in praise, glory and honor consciously and subconsciously each day.

But during the “conscience” part of our DAILY worship, we should utilize the Bible. We should read and meditate on scripture each day as we lift God up in worship to Him.

God gave us a great and wonderful gift in the form of His Word.

He inspired the authors of the 66 books to pen words that would help His children navigate this life on earth and be a tool we use in our worship of Him.

Because of this wonderful gift to His children, we should read it and use it each day as a part of our daily worship.

Yes, God’s Word should definitely be a part of our worship.

As we read it, meditate on it, and read it again, we gain understanding and wisdom that our Father in heaven gives us.

As we use God’s Word in our worship, it takes more than just skimming or reading it. It truly does take meditation and thoughtfulness about what He is conveying to us. It doesn’t have to be a whole chapter daily but can be a parable or a few verses that are special and meaningful to us. The important thing is to READ it daily, meditate on it and understand what it means for us as a child of God.

As we use His Word in our daily worship, we find messages of joy and inspiration. We also will find that He gives us an answer for any problem or trial that we may be going through.

If we make God’s Word a part of our daily worship and worshipful attitude, we will be blessed with greater spiritual wisdom and understanding.  And our daily worship will bring us into a closer communion with Him.

Worship through the Word

Psalm 119--What it Tells Us About God's Word

So, how important is God’s Word?  It is VITAL and a NECESSITY for His children. God gave it to us for learning, wisdom and understanding of Him...and to guide us along in this earthly life. IT is HIS Word.

Below you will find verses from only one chapter in the Bible.

Psalm 119 by itself shows us clearly the value and importance of His Word.

Yes, there are a lot of verses below, but please take time to read, meditate and think about the importance of each verse as they talk about “the Word” of God.

Psalm 119

Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.

25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.

28 My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.

38 Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

42 So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.

49 Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.

58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.

67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.

74 They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.

76 Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.

81 My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.

89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.

103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

114 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

116 Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.

130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

140 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.

169 Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord: give me understanding according to thy word.

172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

God's Word is our most powerful weapon

If reading God’s Word daily is a part of your life already, you know how important it is.

If it isn’t, we urge you to make it a part of your DAILY WORSHIP. In fact, it is vital that it does become a part of your daily worship.

God's Word truly is a “lamp unto OUR feet and a light unto OUR path" and may we let it guide us each day in our spiritual journey.
